So getting to business,  today we will be discussing on Analytic Journalism. Analytic means when one is an expert in or using analysis especially in thinking or reasoning. Analytic Journalism seeks sense of sophisticated reality in order to create a genuine public understanding. Analytic Journalism combines some part if Investigative Journalism and explanatory reporting. Analytic Journalism's main goal is to explain.
According to Institute of Analytic Journalism: "critical thinking and analysis using a variety of intellectual tools and methods to understand multiple phenomena and to communicate the result of those insights to multiple audience in a variety of ways. Analytic Journalism can be seen as response to professional communication from powerful agents, information overload and growing complexity in a globalized world. Analytic Journalism's goal is to create an evidence based interpretation of reality, confronting the dominant ways of understanding a specific phenomenon.
Johnson points out necessary variable of analytic thinking in his definition: "frame the appropriate question; find and retrieve appropriate data; use appropriate analytic tools; show what you know with story-appropriate media.

Analytic Journalists make use of:
Critical methods which allow them to present information in a way that differentiate it from hard news also known as infotainment. Analytic Journalism often apply the scientific method of testing and retesting of hypothesis against the evidence. Assumptions are methodically tested by verifying, confirming and re-modifying hypotheses. Analytic Journalists help bring the background into the foreground making it available for conversation  and collective notion.

Analytic Journalism and other categories of Journalism:
While Investigative Journalism's goal is at expising, Analytic Journalism is at explaining. Using a trail of evidence, Investigative Journalism is more inclined to follow a particular guilty party, while Analytic Journalism is more inclined to follow evidence that broaden understanding of issues. Analytic Journalism focuses on making meaning out of information that may not be hidden but dispersed.
